5-Star San Diego Contractors Get The Job Done Right
Outdoor Remodeling Questions?
Do you handle both the design and the construction?
Yes. We are a true Design and Build firm. The same team creates your 3D design, obtains city permits, handles HOA approvals, and builds your outdoor space, eliminating miscommunication between separate contractors.
What is the difference between a landscaper and a Design and Build firm?
Landscapers focus on planting. Design and Build firms handle 3D design, city permits, HOA approvals, drainage engineering, structural retaining walls, outdoor kitchens with gas lines, and the actual construction, all under one roof and one license.
What does the design process actually look like?
Your vision becomes a 3D rendering of your outdoor space so you can see exactly what we are building before we break ground. The design is refined until you are satisfied, then construction begins.
Do I need a permit for an outdoor remodel in San Diego?
Most large projects, like structural retaining walls, custom patio covers, and outdoor kitchens with gas lines, require city permits. We handle permitting in-house and know local zoning codes.
Do you handle drainage, grading, and slope work?
Yes. Drainage and grading are part of almost every yard we work on. We engineer proper drainage into designs from the start, particularly for hillside and sloped properties.
Does my outdoor remodel need to comply with San Diego water conservation rules?
Potentially yes. Projects triggering MWELO (Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance) may require water budget calculations and irrigation plans. We flag these requirements early in the design process.
Will you help me get HOA approval?
Absolutely. Most HOAs require approval before you change your outdoor space. We provide detailed plans, material lists, and 3D renderings for review boards.
How long does a full property transformation take?
Timelines depend on the size of your yard and how fast the city processes permits. We provide clear timelines during consultation and offer weekly updates throughout construction.
Will an outdoor remodel increase my San Diego home value?
In most cases, yes. Well-designed outdoor spaces that add usable square footage or solve structural issues have measurable impact on property appraisals. ROI depends on project type, neighborhood, and market conditions.
Can I complete my outdoor remodel in phases?
Yes. Many homeowners start with the patio or driveway and come back for the outdoor kitchen or full backyard later. Each phase is designed and priced independently.
Do you offer financing for large outdoor projects?
Yes. We partner with top lenders to offer flexible payment plans, including $0 down options. We work with EnerBank, Mosaic, Renovate America, and Synchrony.
What's included in the free consultation?
We visit your property, discuss your vision, take measurements, provide expert recommendations on materials and design, and answer all questions with no obligation.
Do you handle demolition and removal?
Yes. We handle everything from demo to final cleanup. Old concrete, pavers, broken walls, and landscaping are removed, hauled away, and the property is cleaned.
What materials do you work with?
We install concrete pavers, natural stone including travertine and flagstone, poured concrete, stamped concrete, porcelain, and artificial turf.
What areas of San Diego do you serve?
We serve all of San Diego County, including North County (Carlsbad, Encinitas, Escondido, Poway), coastal areas (La Jolla, Del Mar), central San Diego, East County (La Mesa, El Cajon), and South County (Chula Vista, Bonita).
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. New Age Design and Build is fully licensed (CSLB #1117768) and carries general liability and workers’ compensation coverage.
What is your warranty?
We provide a workmanship warranty on all labor and many material manufacturers offer their own product warranties. Warranty terms are discussed during consultation.
Who will be on site during construction?
Our dedicated crews are overseen personally by the owners of the business. You have a consistent point of contact throughout the build.
