New Age Design & Build - San Diego, CA
Frequently Asked Questions
Not finding what you're looking for?
What's included in the free consultation?
During your free consultation, we visit your property, discuss your vision and goals, take measurements, and provide expert recommendations. We walk you through material options, design possibilities, and answer all your questions. There’s absolutely no obligation to move forward.
What if I have an HOA?
We work with HOAs regularly. Most HOAs require approval before exterior modifications. We help by providing detailed plans, material specs, and renderings that satisfy HOA review boards. Once you receive approval, we handle the rest. If your HOA has specific material or color requirements, we design within those guidelines.
What areas of San Diego do you serve?
We serve all of San Diego County. Our crews work throughout North County (Carlsbad, Encinitas, San Marcos, Escondido, Poway, Rancho Bernardo), coastal areas (La Jolla, Del Mar, Pacific Beach), central San Diego, East County (La Mesa, El Cajon, Santee), and South County (Chula Vista, Bonita). If you’re in San Diego County, we can help.
How much does a typical yard remodel cost?
Most backyard remodels range from $25,000 to $75,000 depending on scope. A basic paver patio runs $8,000 to $20,000. Outdoor kitchens typically cost $15,000 to $50,000. Retaining walls vary widely based on height and length. We provide detailed quotes after seeing your space. Every project is different, so we don’t give ballpark numbers without understanding your specific situation.
Do I need permits for my project?
It depends on the project. Retaining walls over 3 feet, large patio covers, gas lines, and electrical work typically require permits. Simple paver patios at grade usually don’t. We know San Diego permit requirements well and handle all permitting as part of our service. You don’t need to deal with the city yourself.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. New Age Design & Build is fully licensed (License # 1117768) by the California Contractors State License Board and carries general liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage. We’re happy to provide proof of insurance and license verification upon request.
Do you offer financing?
Yes! We work with multiple financing partners to offer flexible payment plans, including options for 100% financing with approved credit. Many of our clients use financing to spread the cost over time. We’ll help you explore your options during the consultation.
Do you handle demolition and removal?
Yes. We handle everything from demo to final cleanup. Old concrete, existing pavers, broken retaining walls, overgrown landscaping. We remove it, haul it away, and leave your property clean. Demo and removal costs are included in your project quote.
How long does a backyard remodel take?
Timelines vary by scope, but a basic paver patio typically takes 3 to 5 days. Complete transformations with walls and outdoor kitchens usually run 3 to 6 weeks. We provide a projected schedule with every proposal
What materials do you work with?
We install concrete pavers (Belgard, Angelus, Pavestone, etc), natural stone (travertine, flagstone), poured concrete, stamped concrete, porcelain, and artificial turf. We help you select materials that fit your style and withstand the San Diego climate.
What is your warranty?
We provide a workmanship warranty on all labor, and most paver manufacturers (like Belgard) offer lifetime warranties on the materials themselves. We stand behind our work and are available to address any post-installation concerns.
Can you work with my existing landscaping?
Yes, we can preserve mature trees and existing hardscape features you want to keep. We aim to enhance your current space, integrating new elements seamlessly with what is already there.
Do you install outdoor kitchens?
Yes, we design and build full outdoor kitchens including BBQ islands, built-in grills, fridges, and sinks. We handle all necessary gas, electrical, and plumbing connections.
Do you build retaining walls?
Yes, we specialize in block, natural stone, and concrete retaining walls. We handle the engineering and drainage requirements necessary for hillside stabilization in San Diego.
What happens if it rains during my project?
If rain occurs, we pause work to protect the job site and resume immediately when conditions allow. While San Diego winters can bring delays, weather interruptions will never change the price of your quote.
